Indian Flavors: Part 1

Hello friends, today we want to tell you about our new web series starting today which is named Indian Flavors. Indian Flavors always stand out in a number of ways and as you know our specialty is Indian Flavor so, in this series we will introduce you to some authentic Indian Flavors. Part 1 is based on Roti. Let's know what a Roti is...
Roti is a flat bread made from stone ground wholemeal flour. The flour is traditionally called 'Atta'. Roti is usually eaten along with cooked pulses or vegetable curries. One needs good experience to make a Roti. It may look easy but, it is a very difficult recipe.
To make a Roti, you have to knead the flour with appropriate water so that it neither too dry nor too wet. Then the flour is cut into small pieces and is gently rolled between hands and hence, it achieves the shape of a ball. Now, the ball is then rolled by a traditional 'Belan' (rolling pin) on a 'Chakla' (a flat circular board, usually made of wood). The rolled Roti should be round and even so that, it cooks evenly. Then, the rolled Roti is placed on a hot 'Tawa' (an iron griddle). The roti then blows up, if the roti blows it means it is made perfectly but, if it doesn't then it means that the rolled Roti was not even.
So, now you see, Indian Flavors are more complicated than it seems. If you have any query feel free to contact us. We are ready to help you. In the mean time, enjoy Rotis at Shayni Foods.
